Stop Covid 19

Cynthia Huerta created a community mural with the COVID-19 research team from the School of Medicine at the University of Riverside. The mural focused on the COVID-19 pandemic and its heightened psychological trauma which alongside racism informs testing and vaccination decisions contributing to mental health disparities in the immigrant communities in the eastern Coachella Valley. The mural served to tell the story of the Latin American indigenous groups that lived in this area. Huerta worked hand in hand with the community to tell their story. The mural is inspired by Purépecha textile and imagery.
